The Trench

This is my tribute to Charleys War a British comic strip produced In the late 1970s up till the late 1980s Written by Pat Mills and Illustrated by Joe Colquhoun .. A masterpiece which over last few years has been collected into hardback volumes(well worth purchasing at Amazon or if available in bookshops or comic shops) ,
The story deals with an underage volunteer (Charley Bourne )and his experiences on The Western Front, following The end of World War One he is conscripted by his superior officer to fight (for The White Russians in The Russian Civil War when England invaded in 1919).. its an epic tale and certainly opened my eyes to many things as a 6 year old reading it ... characters from left to right Ginger Jones,Charley Bourne,Sergeant Ol Bill Tozer, Young Alfred, Smith 70 and the villainous Captain Snell.
